Shared Planet 9

In cooperation with the Cologne University of Music and Dance, the Jazz Institute Berlin presents students' own compositions on the topics of feminism, human rights and gender equality.

Shared Planet 9 is a continuation of Mia Knop Jacobsen's Planet 9 project, which was a huge success in 2017. A year ago, students Liv Sindler and Eva Swiderski decided to revive the project. We look forward to the compositions created by the FLINTA* Ensemble, which were developed under the artistic direction of Prof. Shannon Barnett, Prof. Céline Rudolph and Fama M'Boup.

What We Do I - III

„I am discovering the music as I do it“ – Paul Motian
Each musician has their own style, each ensemble has its own sound and their own playing is constantly being reflected and developed. From 7:00 pm pm onwards, the bands of the JIB will be on stage in the Georg Neumann Saal on three days and will present their work, which they have developed and consolidated in the course of the semester. Formations of different sizes and instrumentations will be on stage. The programme traditionally ranges from classical jazz to Latin, modern jazz and free improvisation. The focus is also on the students' own compositions.
